Meet Clearwater Mortgage - a Locally Owned Family Business

Sandy, Scotty, Jesse Chinchar

Clearwater Mortgage is a family run business. Founded by Scott Chinchar (Scotty to most) and Sandy Chinchar, husband and wife, along with their son, Jesse Chinchar.

Jesse is otherwise known as Coach Jesse, (of the getting more and more famous Clearwater Academy International Knights football team).

You can read all about them in the Tampa Bay Times.

Clearwater Mortgage Began in 2012

But, the Chinchar’s started in the mortgage business in 1999.

Scotty, unfortunately, passed away in March of 2019 after a battle with cancer, leaving extensive written and audio file advice for us to carry on his work.

He had an extreme interest in delivering excellent customer service and wanted us to keep Clearwater Mortgage running smoothly in the “Scotty way.”

Our fearless leader who took on this task is Sandy Chinchar.

Sandy was born in Connecticut, and lived in California for many years. The Chinchar family moved to Clearwater, Florida in 2001, and never looked back. Sandy loves to help with any questions you may have and welcomes your communication. You can always email her, call, or arrange to see her. No question is too large or too small.

The Scotty Way

The mortgage process these days can be complex.

Each loan is different.

People need a real person who is knowledgeable, but also someone that can make things go right to get it closed when a problem does arise.

The lending world seems chaotic at times. The homebuyer has a lot of stress going on when buying a home and is spending money the moment they raise their hand and start looking for a home.

There are a lot of people involved in the process, such as the:

  • Borrower
  • Seller
  • Buyer's agent
  • Seller’s agent
  • Pest inspectors
  • Appraiser
  • Loan officer
  • Processor
  • Title company personnel
  • And sometimes more!

There is a LOT going on.

Here's what Scotty said were the most important things for all of his staff to remember:

  • Take care to let the borrower know how to save money along the way.
  • Keep the process as simple as possible.
  • No question is too unimportant.
  • Speak in regular language and not industry jargon.
  • Answer the phone with a human when at all possible.
  • Talk to people.
  • Care about the customer.
  • Have fun!
